Day 227 20180815

I noticed during a visit from my mum for my birthday that my cauliflowers were ready to harvest and in fact some had managed to slip past their best before date with the florets starting to split out.  It’s only been a couple of days since and I’ve harvested most of them.  There’s a couple left in the ground which hadn’t yet produced anything, but if they do they can be harvested later in the year.  Mine do suffer from a bit of oxidation so are rarely pure while, though the one above hasn’t suffered from that.  As with most of my crops they will be frozen (after blanching) for use later in the year.  Whether I have enough of a crop to add them to the rotation on a permanent basis I’ll have to wait and see
